Green Oliver Hiking group invites you in Sithonia on September 19th for a group hike with a happy ending in the crystal clear waters of Toroni!
Let's explore a relatively unknown corner of Chalkidiki and hike along trails with views of stunning turquoise-green bays! We’ll enjoy the unspoiled beauty of Sithonia and reach spots that few have the chance to discover, following a gentle and relatively easy hike, ideal for those in moderate physical condition.
Afterwards, we’ll have free time at the beautiful Toroni Beach for one last summer swim, relaxing by the sea, enjoying a coffee or a snack, and savoring every moment before we say goodbye to summer.
The itenary
Those interested can join the excursion by private bus (from Thessaloniki) or car.
- The route begins at the southern end of Toroni Beach
- We follow a beautiful seaside trail, through a trail lined with rushes, esparto grass, heather, and aromatic Mediterranean plants.
- We descend to the well-hidden cove of Antikoufos, and along the way we encounter traces of the region’s ancient history, with ruins of ancient settlements emerging from the natural landscape.
- We continue toward the gun emplacements, a World War II fortification that dominates a point with panoramic view.
- On the way back, we make a short detour to the archaeological site of Toroni, where the ruins of the ancient fortifications and castle tell the centuries-old story of one of Halkidiki’s most important settlements.
A trail that is ideal for beginner hikers, with gentle ups and downs and no technical difficulties, suitable for people with moderate physical fitness.
